Don Cooper, Georgia Natural Peanut Alliance
Agricultural Outreach and Training Specialist
This mission will look at the effectiveness of an built-in weed management system in Licensed Natural peanut manufacturing using common mechanical cultivation and Eugenol, a broad spectrum herbicide derived from cloves and accredited for Licensed Natural manufacturing in a industrial formulation as Weed Slayer. The mission might be carried out with 4 Licensed Natural farmers at 4 places in Southwest Georgia: (1) two loamy/clayey farms, (2) two sandy farms. Every web site can have two fields planted roughly 2-3 weeks aside throughout the optimum planting window (Could/June) to measure weed pressures and yield. Every farm will start use of a tine weeder inside 5-7 days after planting, with 5-7 whole passes, adopted by 2-3 passes with sweeps till the peanut vegetation’ canopies prolong throughout the rows.
